It’s easy to set your mind on a goal and then feel discouraged when you are not sure where to start or how to accomplish what you must in order for the goal to be reached.
Short Story Time
I have a very dear friend who was down about his job. He made good money but lost his job due to downsizing. During our conversation he admitted he wasn’t satisfied with the job to begin with. I asked him what he sincerely wanted to do before his goal became high income, he didn’t fully understand me.
“I mean like growing up as a kid, what did you want to do as a pro? What was your passion? Not for income, but because it’s what you really wanted.
He replied that he was a match box car type of kid and especially loved his trucks. After baiting a bit into this long lost passion, he came up with his own conclusion of really wanting a career driving trucks.
(Fast forward 2 weeks)
My friend expressed to me that he hadn’t started pursuing his driving career because with his bills and lack of income he didn’t feel he could afford to pay for the classes anyway… He was bummed and too ready to give up the dream...

I persuaded him to just begin in the process of getting his permit and so on, even if he didn’t know how he would pay for the classes when it came time to take them.
Sure enough he took the small steps he could and in the process was saving $50 weekly, by the time he finished all the basic steps, like a miracle of some sort a friend offered him the remainder of the money he needed for the CDL classes.
He is well on his way to the career he longed for.
POINT IS…
#1 JUST START
I reassure you that it’s not your job to have all the answers and methods right away. By divine law what is needed will be provided when you need them as long as you believe in your abilities and are passionate about what you’re doing.
Remind yourself daily that this is your life to live and it’s up to you to get what you want.
As long as you just start then you’re already on the right path.
A Bitter to Better Technique
Start off small so you don’t get overwhelmed and quit before you even fully begin
Keep the end result in mind and focus all your attention to the benefits
Set short term goals towards the long term one (ex. Want to lose 20 lbs before the new year, set short goals of losing a minimum of 2 pounds a month and commit to it).
Prioritize and make sure you’re well rounded to secure good overall health, do not neglect one part for another. Social, mental, emotional and physical needs must be met so you don’t feel discouraged.
Find like minded people to associate with, people that motivate you and are also goal oriented and provide support.
Have a concrete goal, and concrete steps to attain it, writing things down (like a check list) will help keep track of the steps you will take.
Find techniques to help keep you motivated
#2. JUST FINISH!!!

DO IT! Even when you don’t feel like it.
You are not alone in the times of discouragement, this is what sets successful people apart from the not so successful, they keep on keeping on even when they don’t feel like it.
See your Goal all the way to completion!!
Moments of stress will push your limits. Depression might set in especially if it’s an already existing condition, or even anxiety as you’re reaching a deadline or the likes, even then keep pushing.
Test your will power, utilize motivation techniques, call on friends that offer support and keep pushing.
Make sure you finish what you start, make a habit of this.
Read up on inspirational people who have success in their lives and find out how they did it. Watch motivational speeches on youtube, follow motivational blogs and forums, anything to keep you in line and pushing forward.
Most importantly believe in your own abilities. Take chances and try different techniques, doesn’t matter how you attain the end result, just go for it and finish.
Until Next Time
Just like any other habit, in order to start on the path of it becoming a default action, we must practice and do it constantly.
Believe in yourself and break the chains of comfort, embrace change and decide wholeheartedly to become better than the circumstances that surround you.
Until my next entry I hope we all set aside time to reflect and begin to make these lists of changes. Break the chains that hold you back from reaching your highest potential. Use that which has made you feel bitter to become better. Thanks for stopping by.
