I ask of you...THIS CHRISTMAS!

Hello Fellow Bitter to Better Blog Readers!

Christmas is near and as a New Yorker I can really appreciate this time of the year. The beautiful decorations all around the city are breathtaking.

As a Christian woman however, I don't care much for the premise of the Holiday ...well, Jesus is not a man in a red suit from the north pole with a bag of goodies. That's not what the bible teaches last time I checked.

This post isn't about that though, so I'll just put a halt to that rant.

I added this very cute cat video to liven the mood... why not?

My real concern during these trying times... WHERE HAS OUR LOVING, GIVING and RECEIVING SPIRIT GONE AS ADULTS?

I have come to realize that so many people have let the spirit and beauty of life sizzle out. This has proved to be detrimental, not only to ourselves but to those around us.

It's nice to think of all the children who will wake up on Christmas morning, after trying to stay awake all Christmas eve, just to open gifts they probably don't deserve. HAHAHAHA! (They deserve it because we love them.)

Well isn't that the whole concept of Santa?... You behave well throughout the year in hopes of gifts, because he will know whether you were naughty or nice.

Point I'm making here is that children are not worried about how they behaved during the year. On Christmas morning they feel entitled to their gifts, and that's final. They wake up and expect their gifts. They simply receive them.

I ask of you, during this month and into the new year, to feel a little bit more entitled and live in the moment a little more than you did yesterday.

Stop thinking so much about what went wrong this year! You still deserve the gifts that life will render going forward

...so forgive yourselves and others for any shortcomings this past year. Take a vow, right now to renew the slate.

Be thankful another year is in view!

Buy yourself something nice!

Grab a drink with friends, or hey grab a drink alone and make a new friend or two!

Give a gift or two! Even if you're broke and can only afford a dollar holiday card or a candle!

Most importantly receive! Even if just for a second, receive the smile, the warm gestures, the gifts, the apple pie, the beauty of life around you.

Feel entitled again! You are here and you are AWESOME! Life's a gift. Receive it this Holiday!

Until Next Time Just like any other habit, in order to start on the path of it becoming a default action, we must practice and do it constantly. Believe in yourself and break the chains of comfort, embrace change and decide wholeheartedly to become better than the circumstances that surround you. Until my next entry I hope we all set aside time to reflect and begin to make these lists of changes. Break the chains that hold you back from reaching your highest potential. Use that which has made you feel bitter to become better. Thanks for stopping by. Please leave your comments below. Feel free to share a time when you experienced something in your life that made you bitter but you transformed it to something better.
